Social Media Specialist (Volunteer)

Job Purpose and Overview

We are looking for a Kingdom minded, social justice driven Social Media Specialist to plan, create, and execute a social media strategy for Seed to Oaks. We need a person to attract and interact with targeted virtual communities and networks users in order to execute our message to bring donors, churches, businesses, volunteers and civic agencies to our network of partners. The goal is to gradually achieve church and donor engagement and intimacy, website traffic and donations by strategically utilizing all aspects of social media marketing.

Social media specialists should have a solid understanding of how each social media channel works and how to optimize content so that it is engaging on those channels. This person is responsible for joining relevant conversations on behalf of Seed to Oaks and putting our programs in a good light by providing support to current and prospective customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment, with short notice, hearing only a vision for media and being able to develop and execute a plan that can work on multiple platforms, targeting multiple consumers
  • Build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification
  • Generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action
  • Set up and optimize company pages within each platform to increase the visibility of company’s social content
  • Moderate all user-generated content in line with the moderation policy for each community
  • Create editorial calendars and syndication schedules
  • Continuously improve by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and then acting on the information
  • Collaborate with other departments (Seed to Oaks Branches, executive team, etc) to manage reputation, identify key players and coordinate actions

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must be a believer in Jesus Christ, the Son of God
  • Must be a member in good standing at a local church

Job Description

  • Proven work experience in social media marketing or as a digital media specialist
  • Excellent consulting, writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation and communication skills
  • Experience creating and posting professional content for Facebook and Instagram
  • Experience with Canva, InDesign and other relevant programs
  • Demonstrable social networking experience and social analytics tools knowledge
  • Adequate knowledge of web design, web development, Conversion Rate Optimization and Search Engine Optimization
  • Knowledge of online marketing and good understanding of major marketing channels
  • Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented with good multitasking and organizational ability
  • Fluency in English
  • BS in Communications, Marketing, Business, New Media or Public Relations (active student in designated degree program will be considered)
